IT IS TIME FOR EXOTIC FOOD TASTING TRIP (EFTT) AGAIN!

The MLC’s Critical Languages Center (CLC) has been coordinating the EFTT every year to make UA students/community realize that we are offering so many different languages here at UA. The EFTT has been a wonderful way to try sample different food from around the world; and it has been an opportunity for UA students/community to share, to enjoy, to learn and to appreciate global environment and cultural diversities. We have been offering about 25 different countries’ EXOTIC foods, made by students from all around the world. The EFTT has been very successful, and it definitely helped to get the MLC/CLC name out to more students for the past several years.

The EFTT this year has been scheduled on the 21st October, Thursday, starting from 3:00 to 4:30 on the 2nd floor of B.B. Comer Hall. The EFTT passports will be ready to hand out soon, and it would be much better to get your passport beforehand to avoid waiting in a long line. You can get your passport from Ms. Pamela Richardson at the MLC main office (BC200).

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

In the MLC and CLC, we have a diverse group of people from many different countries and backgrounds. Because of this, we feel that we are better equipped to teach others about diversity. And the EFTT has been made by us all working together. Without your active participation and support, the EFTT would not have been successful.

We will suggest participants donate $5.00 or more, and then with the money donated will go toward the cost of paper plates, cups, napkins, plastic utensils, and beverages for the event. After accounting for these costs, we will REIMBURSE UP TO 50 DOLLARS to each country ONLY IF YOU BRING YOUR RECEIPT. Each country will be allowed to have a FREE FOOD PASSPORT and a FREE CLC GREEN T-SHIRT as a working uniform on the day of EFTT up to 3 volunteers (including the LTs). (But you are more than welcome to dress up in your own culture’s clothes.)

Another thing that I need to make it clear is that we are NOT FEEDING PEOPLE. We are offering “SAMPLE SIZES OF FOOD” ONLY. So you can prepare one or two big dish(s) for 200-250 people, and you should make an effort fairly distribute your food among all about 200-250 participants.

You will need to send us the names of your volunteers beforehand, and if you are unable to join us for some reasons, please ask your friends to help us. We would very much appreciate any help you could give in regards to making this event successful.
