Koji Arizumi (有住幸二) grew up in Tokyo, Japan. He went to Waseda University and majored in physics. While in college, he started playing the flute and went on to get a master’s degree (MA) and doctoral degree (DMA) in music. He has been teaching Japanese on Satellite TV/video as well as in the classroom almost 20 years while researching the educational use of technology. Dr. Arizumi also teaches Modern Japanese Literature and Film in the Department of Modern Languages and Classics of UA.

Pamela is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota and has a B.A. in Humanities from the University of Minnesota. She moved to Tuscaloosa in 1991 when her husband accepted a job as a professor in the Kinesiology Department. She and her husband have three children currently attending the University of Alabama.

Sumi is from Samcheok, Korea. She is a doctoral student majoring in Comparative Politics and minoring in American Politics and International Relations at the UA. She received her BA in Political Science and International Relations (Minor in Economics) from Kookmin University and MA in Policy Sciences (Public Policy) from Ewha Womans University in Korea, and she worked at several Northeast Asian history-relevant NGOs and the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea for 5 years. She is a world traveler. She traveled around fifty countries, met various people, and experienced diverse cultures throughout the countries. She treats human relations importantly, values own individuality, and tries to understand and help other people. She is strong, independent and dynamic, and she enjoys playing racquetball, tennis, billiards and bowling, swimming and cooking.

Ali Fuat is from Turkey. He grew up in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. He received his BA and MA degrees from Turkey. He studied “Critical and Postmodern International Relations Theories” in his MA degree. Now, he is a PhD student in the Department of Political Science at UA.

Egemen is from Turkey. He received his BA in Counseling from Ege University and MA in Early Childhood Education from UAB. Currently, he is a PhD student majoring in Educational Research at UA. His research interest is “measurement and evaluation in education”. He enjoys playing and watching sports.

Hi, my name is Henry, and I’m from New Orleans, Louisiana. I graduated from UA in May 2015 with a B.A. in International Studies and minors in Portuguese and German. I have a strong interest in everything related to Brazil and the Portuguese language, starting from my first classes in the CLC as an undergraduate three years ago. In the spring of my junior year I studied abroad in Florianópolis, Brazil, for 5 months, and next year I will return to Brazil as a Fulbright scholar teaching English for 9 months. I can’t wait to get started sharing my passion for Portuguese language learning! I also enjoy soccer, tennis, going to the gym, and reading.
