POR-Geremy

Portuguese Language Trainer: Geremy Freeman
Email: geremyfreeman@hotmail.com

I earned my PhD in Romance Languages (linguistics) from the University of Alabama in 2009.  As a graduate student at UA I taught French.  During this time I had the opportunity to branch out and study other languages as well.  One of these was Portuguese which I studied right here in the CLC.  Since then I’ve become quite passionate about all things Brazilian and I’ve had the good fortune to travel to Brazil many times since I began my studies of Portuguese.  As fate would have it, while making an unexpected visit to B.B. Comer Hall in December of 2012, I was approached by Koji Arizumi who was in need of a Portuguese teacher for the upcoming semester.  He offered me the position and I gladly accepted.  It feels great to involved with Portuguese again, only this time as a teacher, and it is my goal to instill in all those who pass through my class the same passion I feel for the language of Brazil and its culture.
